The article considers the following: what does a sense of self-determination mean and in what does it manifest itself? Accordingly, the article discusses the self-determination of the individual. In accordance with Hegel, any event that causes another event is a free cause – the cause of itself (causa sui). In this context the individual loses its identity by mixing with others. In this article we stress the uniqueness of the individual as a cause of itself – this is based in the feeling of self-determination of the individual. At its core, this is a question about the ontological sta-tus of feeling in general. We define "feeling" as something char-acterized by completeness of self-determination. Being a feeling, this something consists of itself, is contained in itself, reveals it-self, and reveals itself to itself. The individual can be defined as a co-feeling of others as something special composed of itself, which comprises itself (identity to itself), is contained within it-self (is ‘self-given’), reveals itself (is embodied in itself) and serves itself (has intrinsic value). The article identifies four genet-ically successive forms of the individual: The individual as a per-son "in general"; Identity; Personality; and the Human in the per-son. Each of these forms is a “small circle” of causa sui, and to-gether they form the “large circle” of causa sui. The article pre-sents the results of the author's psychological research (as well as some thoughts for future experiments) on the feeling of the self-determination of the individual: the phenomenon of indivisibility of the individual in reflection (identity to oneself); the phenome-non of spontaneous self-reflection (embodiment in oneself); the phenomenon of double presence (‘self-givenness’) and the phe-nom...
