The main task for them was to begin a well boring (бурение скважины) in Tyumen region for studying prospective directions of oil and gas. so, the expedition was organized for searching places which were rich in gas and oil. 2 places were chosen in Tyumen for oil exploration, Derbichi and yar and they started to drill. There was another place for oil exploration. it was near cemetery grove, now it is the place opposite the cardiology center. There were a few tasks for that expedition: to test new equipment which was sent from moscow and to find prospective places for oil exploration in the future. The head of the expedition was isaak pavlovskiy. in six months the expedition installed their new equipment and started to work.one year later the expedition stopped working because they reached the ordered depth, 2000 metres. They found permeable stratum and mud shales and only fifteen liters of oil. That was too little but the quality was really high. The foundation proved that the oil-fields were not so far from their present locations. As the well showed little potential it was decided to close it. in January 1950, a meeting took place in moscow. They discussed Tyumen’s research and decided to develop a five-year plan: to start drilliy twenty six wells and to find the most prospective deposits of oil.
